MIA

helloooooo out there! have you missed me? i've been crazy busy and i'm sorry i've been neglecting the land of bloggy goodness...

i have been trying like mad to get my products out there into the realm of consumers, and spending all day doing card challenges just wasn't getting me anywhere! so i just had to avoid even glancing at 365 Cards or Mojo Monday, and all the other great blogs i was so diligently following! it's addictive, don't you think?!

i have applied to be a vendor at a bunch of craft fairs, and since i make ALL of my products myself i have to spend all my time planning out what i want to make and then creating it all. takes so much time - but of course i love it with a passion so it's time well spent.

i sold dozens of my cards to some downtown businesses a couple of weeks ago, and that really dwindled my stock. i have to make many many more before i'll have enough for the fairs. but anyway...

i wanted to share with you something new i'm playing with - domino pendants! i have been making magnets and keychains from dominos for quite a while now, but i wanted to add something more to my repertoire.

don'tcha just love these washi papers? i have a big stash of them, and i've used them on cards before, but now i've found a new used for them too! i love how these turned out. i'm gonna give them a go at my next craft fair on Aug.9th and if they sell i'll make more.

i doubt any of you live in my neck of the woods, but if you do - come on by the craft fair! it's just a small one, but i did it back in june too and it's a fun day! our tables are outside so i better remember to bring a big umbrella. it's been over 30 degrees all week here! we've been melting.

thanks for stopping by! i promise it won't be so long until my next post. TGIF!! Have a great weekend - for us here in BC it's a long weekend so my hubby has a couple of extra days off to play.

cheers!

Saturday Rules!

the hubby and i went out to do some errands today and ended up buying a wicked new patio furniture set plus a bistro table & chair set at The Home Depot, on clearance! we thought we'd have to wait til next spring but now we have a great set to enjoy for the rest of the summer! awesome, because we plan to have a couple more bbqs before the weather turns.
happy happy joy joy, to quote Ren & Stimpy. (a very strange cartoon that my brother used to like.) quite the tangent...

so anyway, i'm happy to post this card this evening to finish off the 365 Cards challenges for the week! it's great to see your name in print when Pam posts the full-week finishers, don't you agree?! i got this fab-tastic stamp set yesterday on my jaunt to Michaels, using my last 50% off coupon. i couldn't wait to try it out!

i painted some white cardstock with silver paper paint for my background, to see how it would work out. not bad, i think! the distress inks and brilliance inks needed to be heat-set because they didn't want to dry on their own, but otherwise it was great! i stippled the paint a little with my sponge brush to get some texture.

stuff used:
paper...
white, purple & pale blue speckled cs
stamps...
Hero Arts - Grid Pattern designblock
Martha Stewart - clear butterfly stamps
PSX - happy birthday!
ink...
Tim Holtz distress - broken china

extras...

well i meant to get this card finished WAAAAAAY earlier today, but i just had to go to Michaels for some "much needed" supplies (yeah, right!!) and then my hubby got home from his trip this week and we went out for a bite to eat. so it's better late than never, right?!

this card is for dawn mcvey's current raspberry suite colour challenge (#12). these 4 colours look fantastic on the plant in her pic, but it's not so easy to make them work on a card! hence, the challenging part, i guess...

Playing Catchup

TGIF!!
sorry to have missed you all yesterday... i had quite a busy day and not 1 minute for stamping! i had lunch with a friend, a dentist appointment (just a cleaning, no pain!) and then dinner with 2 of my sisters and some friends. PLUS my other sister from Whitehorse called during dinner to tell us she got engaged!!!!! i'm overjoyed for her. it's awesome news! my brother from Edmonton is in Whitehorse right now too - he flew in for a vacation to surprise my parents. apparently my mom was screaming like a little girl when she saw him. wish i'd seen that!

i have 2 cards to showcase today - catching up on the 365 Cards challenges. thursday's challenge was "she said, and i quote..." you have to use a quote on your card and i have several of those stamps so i got right to it. don't you love the polka dot papers? i got them on sale and there's 5 colours in the pack. so cute! the 'recipe' for this card is based on a sweet little card on the kwernerdesign blog today - Finally Friday.

today's 365 challenge is to try the technique of paper piercing - something i have enjoyed doing before so i liked that they chose this technique for today! so many stamps to choose from! how does a person narrow it down? tough... if only i had time to make 30 cards today!

check out that closeup on the paper piercing! it works so great with flourish images, and putting dark paper underneath makes it stand out more.

stuff used:
paper...
PaperTrey Ink - lemon tart
white cs

Stampington & Company - Time 'clearly impressed' set
ink...

Happy Mojo Monday!

Mojo Monday week 94 finds me playing with my Citrus Stack papers again. i still had them out on my desk from yesterday making my cards for day 127 on 365 Cards. the colours are so bright and cheery i can't get enough! if you've lost your mojo, you should check out this site and get some inspiration! hehehe!

i worked on this card for hours it seems... could be i'm getting distracted by the movies i have playing on the computer beside me - right now it's Get Smart. it's so funny i keep watching instead of stamping! i like to have background noise while i 'work' and i tend to prefer movies instead of music.

check out that cordouroy brad! isn't that the cutest thing? i wish i knew where i got them - they came in orange, blue and pink. i like to put my embellishments into craft keepers for storage, but i didn't used to keep any of the packaging so i'd know what brand my stuff is. i've changed my ways, especially since i need to put my ingredients list on by blog posts!

it's a rainy monday here in richmond, bc. but i shouldn't complain - we've had so many sunny days in a row i don't even remember when it last rained! our garden can sure use a non-scorcher. and besides, these papers are really brightening up my day! here's the sketch pic if you want to give it a whirl. enjoy and happy stamping!

Day 128 - Card Recipe

you guessed it... another 365 Cards challenge. using a prescribed recipe is often hard - sticking to just a few ingredients can be so limiting! but tonight i just grabbed some great patterned paper and voila, i had it done! it's weird that i've made this card already tonight because the new 365 posts happen at midnight eastern time, which is only 9pm for me! i set this to upload at midnight my time, so i won't be able to add my URL to their site until the morning... oh well! not as high up on the list as i'd like, but what are you gonna do? take it easy all!

ps. hey, i just discovered a great place to win some blog candy... check out Addicted to Paper's blog and enter to win by leaving a comment by july 15th. easy peasy! and i'm telling you, there's a huge pile of stuff to win! i almost don't want to share the news - it lessens my chances! hehehe!

you can also enter to win a set of copic markers here, at the "Stampin' Up! My Way" blog. that would be fab, cuz i don't own a single copic!

Living the Life I Imagined

do you ever feel like everything is just perfect and you're right where you want to be? i look around me and see my husband, our new house, my stamping hobby - it all gives me such joie de vivre! i feel like i've suddenly grown up over the past few years. suddenly i'm married, i live in a house we bought (after an eternity of renting) and i'm such a happy camper. sigh.... this all has nothing to do with what i'm gonna show you, i just felt like sharing my warm fuzzies. (grin!)

Caardvarks is a site you should check out if you've never seen it before. they have 2 challenges a month - on the 5th and 20th. and you know what a challenge freak i have become! being the 5th today, i've got a second post for the day to show ya the card i worked on today. it started with a sketch to follow, and i had an idea in my head of where i was going with it... something went haywire and i ended up spending FOREVER making the #$^(&%^$ card!! i just couldn't get happy about it. but i think the final outcome is not too bad. it's quite a dark colour scheme. but since my cards from earlier today were so bright and chipper i don't mind that this one is completely different! here is the sketch challenge for today:
and here's what i got out of it:

i love the purple satin ribbon - it kinda looks blue here, but trust me, it's really purple! so many elements went into this card! no wonder it took me forever to finish. have a great evening!

A Sunny Sunday of Leisure...

sunday is such a lovely day of leisure, don't you agree? my hubby and i get up, make our coffee & tea (i've never liked coffee, tea's my thang...) and plop in front of our computers to hang out and surf, read emails, and whatever else we want. for me, i'm usually opening about 50 tabs in firefox to view the crafty blogs and sites i follow daily. it's not unusual for me to have about 10 tabs open at once - i flip back and forth oohing and aahing all the fab cards and ideas i see. it fills my head with inspiration to tackle whatever challenges i want to try!

today is no different - i opened up 365 Cards to check out the sketch since today is Super Sketchy Sunday, day 127. i was immediately inspired to pull out the citrus stack from DCWV. the colours are so bright and cheery, and really match my mood today. it's nice to wake up rarin' to go!

i made 2 cards for the sketch cuz i wanted to use so many of the papers - this cardstock stack is awe-sum! totally... take a peak over at DCWV! but DO come back now, you hear?!

i've included a closeup shot of the fab brad i used - it's big and awesome and fabric-covered! i love it so much i almost don't want to use them... that happens with so many of my more incredible embellisments. i buy them but can hardly bare to use them up. i'm sure most crafters are of the same mindset.

same goes for this card - these yummy metal ribbon slides i got from Making Memories are almost too good to use! i'm gonna have to hunt around for more cuz this was the last one in my stash. this closeup is to show you the depth of the blue wave paper i used here. i have had 1 sheet of it in my cardstock stash for literally years, and i have no idea where it came from. it just seemed to fit so well with the colours and patterns from the citrus stack!

so this has been pretty lengthy today - i'll leave you to get to your day after sharing my list of supplies! hang loose!

you`ve just gotta watch this video from Hero Arts - it`s a technique i love to use (the ink blending) and it looks so stunning with the layers of embossing that are used here! the theme this week is using photos on your cards. (earlier this week i posted my black & white wedding card.)

Let`s Get Wild!

this card makes me wild! i had some fun with packets of Thickers i bought ages ago and never used yet. i seem to have this problem - i buy wicked crafty products and they collect on my desk until i have no space to work. then they get put in a drawer and have to live there forever until i get them back out to play with. poor little crafty products! i apologize to you - what good is having all this stuff if i don`t use it right!

AGAIN today i`m doing a double-duty card. i seem to be short on time this week and i am not sure why! it`s not really cheating - i think it`s actually more of a challenge to incorporate 2 sets of rules into 1 card! (grin)

i found a new site last week called Rubbernecker Stamps and they have wacky wednesday challenges. the challenge is called Hard & Soft, and you must use hardware & ribbon. i`ve combined their challenge from yesterday with the day 122 challenge from 365 Cards called It`s A Wrap. you have to use wrapping paper on your card.) i love how this cheetah-print paper even looks like it`s fuzzy!

now i only have 2 to catch up on to complete the week for the 3 time in a row! wish me luck!

stuff used:
paper...
Halcraft USA - black card & envelope pack
cheetah wrapping paper (from my stash)

day 124 on 365 Cards

another day, another challenge...
what would life be without a little adversity now and then? easy peasy isn't fun ALL the time! so i'm sure for some people using a digital image might be tough to incorporate - maybe we're not all so computer-literate as others! i find i'm learning a lot as i go. my hubby teaches me plenty of stuff, but i also like to stuggle on my own sometimes. (ok, so maybe i don't actually LIKE to struggle, but he's not always home!)

i used Microsoft Word to create a background of different fonts of the word 'baby', then i printed it out on cloudy vellum using blue ink - to make baby boy cards! it's a fairly simple card, but i like it. i also don't use my eyelets much anymore and i have so many of them! great way to attach vellum, as i'm sure all you crafty chicks know. take it easy out there!

cheers!
